Precise Disorder
MCQST member Dmitri Efetov is featured in LMU's research magazine EINSICHTEN / INSIGHTS. In his research, Efetov stacks graphene, a special, ultra-thin form of carbon. And by stacking it in a deliberately disorderly manner, he creates effects that one day could be very helpful in quantum computing or in rendering possible the lossless transmission of electricity. Above all, however, Efetov’s stacking leads to a new, still largely obscure domain of physics: twistronics. Discover more about the comeback of the graphene, Efetov's research, and the door it's opening toward a new physics.
